Will I have one power bill?

You will receive one bill from your utility company and you will receive one bill for your solar panels. Our goal is to get the new combined bill to be much less than your previous bill. One of our representatives can help show you exactly what you can expect for a new bill.

What if I move?

What happens if the power goes out?

If the power goes out in your area, systems tied to the grid go out as well. It’s not safe to send power into the grid when workers are attempting to fix a power outage problem. Adding a home battery can give you a limited amount of power to specific items within your home.

WHow does net metering work?

After solar panels are installed on your home you begin producing power. Any excess power your home doesn’t use will be sent back to your utility company. Your electric meter will run backwards. You will feed excess energy to the utility company during the day and then receive it back during the nighttime, at no cost.

What is the process for going solar?

  1. A Summit Solar representative will visit your home to assess the quality of your home and provide you with a detailed solar proposal specifically designed for your home.
  2. Your Summit Rep will then show you how the incentives work in your area, provide you with proper inventive documents, and give you access to Summits $0 down finance options.
  3. The Summit Operations Team will handle all permitting and engineering documents before scheduling your install.
  4. One of Summit's highly trained install teams will brief you on the work to be done and make sure all of your questions are answered the day of install. The install often only takes 1-2 days.

How does a solar ownership work?

Summit Solar gives its customers access to $0 down loan options that allow customers to finance their systems for up to 25 years with incredibly low-interest rates. This makes the decision to go solar much easier because customers don’t have to come out of pocket with anything and instead simply replace their old Utility bill with a lower bill that eventually ends.

What happens at the end of the loan term?

How do I claim the Federal Tax Credit?

Can I add more panels later?

Yes. As long as there is enough additional roof space for more panels. Simply contact your Summit Solar representative and they will guide you through the process.

How long will my install take?

Normally installation takes less than one day. Occasionally it can take up to 2-3 days if its a larger system or is mounted on the ground or a metal roof. Summit Solar takes care of everything involved in the installation of your system, including system design and all applicable permits and inspections.

Can I store excess energy?

Summit Solar is very focused on the use of batteries in the future. We would love to talk more with you in regards to which battery option is best for you!

Who takes care of panel maintenance?

Each customer receives a 25 year manufacturer warranty, which covers issues related to the manufacturing itself. Snow removal and panel cleaning can be done by the homeowner.

Is solar right for my home?

Solar gives you the ability to stop renting your power from your utility company and take control of your power. Reasons such as no money up front, locked in monthly bill until the system is paid off, avoiding utility rate increases, and the fact solar is better for the environment are just a few of the reasons our customers see solar as a no-brainer!
